TPS?

I took out the old TPS out of my car and it was compressed shut it was hard to open it is that supposed to be like that? And the 1 i got off a buddy is open but can't press it together with hand is it suppossed to be stiff like that?

It sounds like you are talking about the IAC (Idle Air Control) not the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). The IAC is usually very stiff to move by hand but has to be adjusted to a certain length before installing. Sorry I dont remember the exact length. Somebody else here can probably advise you on that.
