I have a 91 RS with a few upgrades such as
-custom exhaust from manifold back
-custom stereo
-upgraded alternator
-air intake

My problem is when I am cruising at about 120 km/hr
the car downshifts a gear for no reason.
My car is an automatic so I was thinking it was a tranny problem but before I take it in to get looked at I was wondering what your thoughts were.
Could it be something to do with the intake?
I just put it on about 2-3weeks ago and I have had the problem for about 1-1 1/2 weeks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I dont believe the intake would have any effect on transmission. You should look at the transmission problem as a totally separate issue from the engine. Never had this problem before, just keep checkin the fluid level in the trans, and report any problems to the repair shop when you take it in. Although i have one idea, you could check the vacuum lines for any leaks or hoses off, a loss of vacuum could result in transmission shifting funny. LURCH
