Hey all

I've seen a fair number of reports lately concerning new lifters failing almost instantly. The folks reporting this news are professional shop owners/builders and it appears to be widespread.
You can easily find more information, if you feel the need.
Now might not be a good time to plan an engine rebuild, unless you've got some NOS lifters.

I've often wondered if I should be adding zinc additive to the oil. Some people say it is a must for longevity, while others say it is snake oil. Well, I really don't think it is snake oil, but not sure if it is something that really should be used. What is your opinion on this?

Here is one of the videos I saw on that problem. It covers the defect very well. They were flat as the earth.
