it's an old school method to check to see if your alt is working properly. if you disconnect it and you stall out your alt is shot.

The cow is right - he just replied befire I could. If you run your car and disconnect the battery, the alternator should supply enough juice to keep your engine running. If it dies, the alternator isn't generating enough juice. Damn that fast cow! :lol:
btw, I don't think disconnecting the battery while the car is running can cause any damage. It never hurt my honda...

the ground on my T/A's battery falls off all the time (too lazy to tighten it down). i usually don't notice untill i'm in a drive through line and after ordering i go to start it back up and i get nothing :-?

like the cow says, old school method to find a bad alt. but you should NEVER do it on a ECM controled car. becuase you could sent a voltage spike in to the ECM and fry it. if you suspect you have a bad alt. take it to a autozone....they will check it for free

thanx for the erply, also when i disconnected it the first time the car dumped like half my coolant on the floor, and now its leakin from a wheep hole under the rock and pivot.... how much more will it leak ?

Yes, you can bypass it. Just take the two hoses off where they enter the heater core and connect them to each other. Just hope it doesnt get to cold cause no heater sucks ass...

i live in canada... it gets cold ummm i got the the leak, and pluged(well more like wrap around) it with teflon tape, but i start the bitch up, and it basically ripped right throught it, still leakin, bypass.... ? fuck...
