I hate my wheels.
Let me just get that out of the way first.

However, I'm also a poor student. Therefore, I can't just go out and buy wheels and new tires for a thousand bucks.

What I was thinking I could do was hit up a junkyard for some wheels off of a larger passenger car (I think newer intrepids or concordes or something have nice looking 16- or 17-inch wheels) and buy some new low-profile tires.

Would a junkyard charge me too much for this? Could I elect to leave the rubber and take the wheels? Would a larger passenger car's bolt pattern even be the the same, or is 5x100 used primarily for compacts?

Something tells me it would probably be easier to just get NEW rims...

Is there maybe a website where I can research cars' bolt patterns?

--edit

Anything else I need to look out for?

grand prix from the mid 90's have some pretty nice looking five spokes, they're probably 16's.
I think they would fit

hmm... yeah, I was thinking about those Grand Prix wheels. They're spiffy.

But if they don't fit, I'm just gonna start saving for some proper wheels.
