How did they improve on the block from Gen II to III?

So why are people just using the top end instead of the whole engine? Kinda seems like it's a lot better. Is it a cost issue or availability?

So if your going to use the Gen III block in the Raven, how are you getting around the cam issues? Or are you just getting one custom ground?

So would you guys recommend using a Gen III block in a 93 Z? When i'm asking this, I plan on this being a 2-3 year project. I want to do it right, and i'm not afraid of the time, research, money involved. I REALLY want to build it up right the first time, even if it takes 5 years. I want to run mid 12's by the time it's done. I realize this will probably and another couple of years and thousands of $$$$ but it's what I have decided. Thanks again.
