Edit tested the wire harness from the crank sensor on the ICM side and it was providing power when i turned over the engine. Looks like ICM needs to be replaced.
Hey folks. 94 Z 3.1L. Bought it last week for a good deal. Was able to drive it home. Has a bad idle issue and looks like it had a misfire. Started going down the road of replacing some parts that would have been the culprit. I replaced the coil packs (all 3) however it looks like the last owner had already replaced them (as the old ones on there looked decently new). Put the new ones in. Car started and still was idling rough. Put a smoke machine on it to find out that the throttle body gasket wasn't on correctly. I replaced the gasket and started it up. Ran beautiful! Drove it and was getting RPM going up and down when I would come to a stop. Figured another vacuum leak. Ran the smoke machine again and nothing was leaking. Brought the car home from that drive and parked it for a couple hours. I went to start it again and it is now a crank no start. When I turn the key to the position just before you start the car, I don't hear the fuel pump priming. I tested the pump (with the test wire under the hood) and the pump started priming (so pump isn't dead). Decided to take one of the plugs out and wouldn't you know it... no spark. Alright... went to a few of my groups looking for suggestions.... And came down to 1 of 2 options. Either ICM killed itself or CPS died. When I looked at the ICM when I pulled the coils, it looks rather new as well (so I assume the last owner changed it out). Bought a new CPS and installed it this morning. Still having the same problem. I'm not the most mechanically inclined however I'm able to get by with suggestions and some videos. I'm looking for some suggestions on what could be next to look at. I really don't want to have to spend thousands and have a mechanic take a look at it.
Thanks in advance.
